How do I use the storm map?

Open Map from the sidebar and click the cloud icon in the toolbar. The map switches to storm tracking: the same place you were looking at, with storm data drawn over it. Click the cloud again to switch back. Storm tracking is part of the Storm Data add-on.

The Storms list on the right answers "when". It lists every storm day whose hail reached the area you are looking at, newest first, each with the largest hail in view and, when any of your properties took hail, how many. Every storm has a dot on the map at the center of each patch of hail it left, colored by size, so the list answers "where" too: hover a row and its dots grow. Click a row and the map draws that day's swath and pans to the storm. The list holds still while a storm is picked; the X on the row, or a second click, clears it. Pan somewhere else with nothing picked and the list follows.

Storm layers, the card on the left, is what to draw.

• Markers: Hail, Wind, and Tornado. Hail draws the storm dots and the eyewitness hail circles; Wind and Tornado draw eyewitness reports of each, from people who saw the storm, with a count of each in view. Click a circle to read the report.
• Date range sets how far back the Storms list looks, from the last 30 days to everything since 2020.
• Season view swaps the single day for the largest hail over the whole date range at once. Use it to see which parts of a territory have been hit at all, then switch back to one day for the detail.
• Min hail size narrows everything to storms at or above it: the list, the dots, and the swath itself.
• Hail swaths shades the area radar estimated hail fell on the picked day, colored by size. Click anywhere in it to see the estimated size at that spot.
• Radar replays the radar itself, so you can watch the storm move. Press play on the timeline at the bottom of the map.
• Projects and Opportunities draw your own records as pins, the same as on the everyday map. Pick a storm day and the ones the hail reached wear a halo in the color of the hail that hit them; the rest fade so the hits stand out.

Looking up one address. Search an address from the toolbar and the map moves there, with every storm day that put estimated hail on it since October 2020 listed in the panel on the right, whether or not the address is in your CRM. See the hail history article for what the sizes mean.

Some controls turn off. Add Pin, Measure, and the 2D/3D switch are unavailable while storm tracking is on. Search, Filters, and recenter keep working. Storm tracking is available on tablets and desktops; on a phone the map stays in its everyday mode.
