How do I delete or restore a contact?

Deleting a contact moves it to trash, where you can restore it for 90 days before it is permanently deleted. While a contact is in trash, it is hidden everywhere in Coastline, including your contacts list, search, and email suggestions.

Delete a contact

1. Open the contact.
2. Click the ⋯ menu and choose Delete contact.
3. Click Delete to confirm.

Any email sequences or mail campaigns the contact is enrolled in stop when you delete it. Restoring the contact does not enroll it again.

Find your deleted contacts

1. Go to Contacts.
2. Click Filters, turn on Show deleted contacts, and click Apply.

Restore a contact

Open the contact from your deleted contacts and click Restore. It comes back to your contacts list with its projects, tasks, notes, and history.

Delete a contact permanently

Open the contact from your deleted contacts and click Delete permanently. This cannot be undone. Contacts still in trash after 90 days are permanently deleted automatically.

A permanent delete removes the contact's notes and any files attached only to that contact. Projects, invoices, estimates, and messages stay, with no contact attached.

Some contacts can't be permanently deleted. If a contact opted out of emails, texts, or calls, or has been sent mail, Coastline keeps the record so the opt-out is always honored. These contacts stay in trash, hidden and restorable.

Who can do this

Deleting a contact, either to trash or permanently, needs the Delete contacts permission. Restoring one needs permission to edit that contact.
