How do I connect EagleView and order a report?

Connect your EagleView account once from Marketplace, then order aerial roof measurement reports from any project.

An admin connects your EagleView account once from Marketplace, and after that anyone with permission orders from a project: open the project, choose EagleView from the project menu, and fill in a short form. EagleView bills your own account for each report, and the finished report lands on that project's Documents tab.

What you need first

An EagleView account that can order the reports you want. Coastline does not resell reports. It orders under your account at whatever EagleView charges you, so your existing pricing and product access carry over.

Connect EagleView

Connecting is a one-time step for the whole workspace, and it takes the "Enable paid features & add-ons" permission (an admin, in most workspaces).

  1. Open Marketplace and find EagleView.
  2. Select Set Up.
  3. Select Connect EagleView.
  4. Sign in with your EagleView account and allow access.

You come back to Coastline and the page reads Connected. Everyone in the workspace shares that one connection. If you also use RoofScope, both can stay connected: see Connect RoofScope.

Who can order

Ordering takes the "Order EagleView reports" permission. Admins, location admins, sales managers, and sales reps have it by default; office, marketing, and subcontractor roles do not. You can change that for any role in Settings: see How do I create roles and adjust who can do what?.

Anyone in the workspace can read the reports a project already has, permission or not.

Order a report

  1. Open the project.
  2. Select More options at the top of the project, then choose EagleView.
  3. The order form opens. If the project already has reports, that row opens into the list of them instead, so select + Order new report.
  4. Fill in the form and select Submit order.

If EagleView is not in that menu, it has not been connected for your workspace yet.

Choosing what to measure

Reports are grouped by what they measure: Full House, Roof, Solar, and Walls, with Other for anything that fits none of them. Open a heading to see the reports inside it. The list is what your own EagleView account is entitled to order, so it differs from workspace to workspace.

Nothing is picked for you. Choose a report, then choose its delivery speed underneath it. The price beside each report is what EagleView charges your account, and a range means the final figure depends on the property. A delivery speed shows what it adds on top of that price, and free delivery shows no figure at all.

Structures to measure starts on Primary structure only. Change it when the property has more to measure than one building: a detached garage, every structure on the parcel, or a commercial complex. Which options appear depends on the report you picked.

Claim number and PO number are optional. Fill them in if your office needs them on the EagleView invoice.

The estimated total sits to the left of Submit order and updates as you change the form.

Checking the pin

The map beside the form shows the property with a pin in the middle. When the address lands on the wrong building, drag the map until the pin sits on the right one. The caption underneath then reads "EagleView will measure the building under the pin", and Reset puts it back where it started.

This is what stops EagleView pausing the order to ask which structure you meant. Leave the pin where it is and EagleView works the address out itself, which it usually gets right.

The map needs a wide window, so it does not appear on a phone.

While you wait

There is nothing to check and nothing to refresh. The report arrives on its own, and whoever ordered it gets a notification when it lands. How long that takes depends on the delivery speed you chose.

Until then the report's row in the project menu carries a pill saying where the order stands.

Where the report lands

The project's Documents tab, in the Reports folder:

  • the report PDF, named for the property address
  • the measurement file, named for the EagleView report number

Selecting a finished report's row in the project menu opens the PDF.

What it costs

EagleView bills your own EagleView account. Coastline adds no fee and takes no cut.

Each delivered report is also recorded as an expense on its project, with EagleView's invoice attached as the receipt. To stop that, turn off Record reports as expenses on the EagleView page in Marketplace.

If EagleView asks you to identify the property

Sometimes EagleView cannot tell which building to measure, usually when an address covers more than one structure. The report's row then reads Needs your input, and EagleView emails whoever owns the EagleView account, who may not be the person who ordered.

Coastline cannot answer that for you. Sign in to EagleView, open the report they are asking about, and point them at the right structure. The order carries on from there and the report arrives here as usual. Putting the pin on the right building when you order usually avoids this.

Troubleshooting

"This project has no address yet." The report is ordered for the project's address, so add one to the project and the form will let you order.

"You don't have permission to order EagleView reports." Ask an admin to turn on "Order EagleView reports" for your role.

"EagleView isn't connected for this workspace." Nobody has connected it yet, or someone disconnected it. An admin can connect it from Marketplace.
