How do I personalize a broadcast for each contact?

Insert fields like first name into the subject and message, and give each one a fallback for contacts missing that detail.

Use Insert field while writing. It drops a placeholder into your subject or message, and each recipient gets their own value in place of it. A message that starts "Hi {{contact.first_name}}" arrives as "Hi Dana" for one person and "Hi Marcus" for the next.

You can insert contact details, your workspace details, and system values like today's date. Insert field works in both the subject line and the body.

Give every field a fallback. Underneath the message you will see a fallback box for each field you used. A fallback is what gets sent when a contact has no value for that field. Put "there" as the fallback for first name and someone with a blank name receives "Hi there".

If you leave a fallback blank, contacts missing that detail are skipped rather than sent a broken message. That is deliberate: an email that opens "Hi ," does more damage than one that never arrives. It does mean a field left without a fallback can quietly shrink your audience, so check the count on the send button before you commit.

Preview before sending. The preview step renders your message against real contacts from your audience, so you see what actually arrives rather than the placeholders. Click through the samples. If one of them warns that the contact is missing a field with no fallback, go back and add one.

Personalization is filled in just before each email goes out, not when you write it. On a broadcast that sends over several days, a contact whose details you correct on day two gets the corrected version.
